Read on few of the quotes about Sachin...

I m sure everyone would enjoy each & every word of it…..

Ø  "Nothing bad can happen to us if we're on a plane in India with Sachin Tendulkar on it." - Hashim Amla, the South African batsman, reassures himself as he boards a flight.

Ø  "To Sachin, the man we all want to be" - Andrew Symonds wrote on an aussie t-shirt he autographed specially for Sachin.

Ø  "Beneath the helmet, under that unruly curly hair, inside the cranium, there is something we don't know, something beyond scientific measure. Something that allows him to soar, to roam a territory of sport that, forget us, even those who are gifted enough to play alongside him cannot even fathom. When he goes out to bat, people switch on their TV sets and switch off their lives." -       BBC on Sachin

Ø  "Tuzhe pata hai tune kiska catch chhoda hai?" -       Wasim Akram to Abdul Razzaq when the latter dropped Sachin's catch in 2003 WC

Ø  Sachin is a genius. I'm a mere mortal. - Brian Charles Lara

Ø  "We did not lose to a team called India...we lost to a man called Sachin."- Mark Taylor, during the test match in Chennai (1997)

Ø  "The more I see of him the more confused I'm getting to which is his best knock."- M. L. Jaisimha

Ø  "The joy he brings to the millions of his countrymen, the grace with which he handles all the adulation and the expectations and his innate humility - all make for a one-in-a-billion individual," - Glen McGrath

Ø  "I can be hundred per cent sure that Sachin will not play for a minute longer when he is not enjoying himself. He is still so eager to go out there and play. He will play as long as he feels he can play," - Anjali Tendulkar

Ø  "Even my father's name is Sachin Tendulkar."- Tendulkar's daughter,Sara, tells her class her father's name after the teacher informs them of a restaurant of the same name in Mumbai.

Ø  Question: Who do you think as most important celebrity? Shah Rukh Khan: There was a big party where stars from bollywood and cricket were invited. Suddenly, there was a big noise, all wanted to see approaching Amitabh Bachhan. Then Sachin entered the hall and Amitabh was leading the queue to get a grab of the GENIUS!!- Shah Rukh Khan in an interview.

Ø  "India me aap PrimeMinister ko ek Baar Katghare me khada kar sakte hain.. Par Sachin Tendulkar par Ungli nahi utha Sakte"-Navjot Singh Sidhu on TV

Ø  He can play that leg glance with a walking stick also.- Waqar Younis'

Ø  I Will See God When I Die But Till Then I Will See Sachin'- A banner in Sharjah

Ø  Sachin Tendulkar has often reminded me of a veteran army colonel who has many medals on his chest to show how he has conquered bowlers all over the world. I was bowling to Sachin and he hit me for two fours in a row. One from point and the other in between point and gully. That was the last two balls of the over and the over after that we (SA) took a wicket and during the group meeting i told Jonty (Rhodes) to be alert and I know a way to pin Sachin. And i delivered the first ball of my next over and it was a fuller length delevery outside offstump. And i shouted catch. To my astonishment the ball was hit to the cover boundary. Such was the brilliance of Sachin.

Ø  His reflex time is the best I have ever seen. Its like 1/20th of a sec. To get his wicket better not prepare. Atleast u wont regret if he hits you for boundaries. - Allan Donald

Ø  On a train from Shimla to Delhi, there was a halt in one of the stations. The train stopped by for few minutes as usual. Sachin was nearing century, batting on 98. The passengers, railway officials, everyone on the train waited for Sachin to complete the century. This Genius can stop time in India!!- Peter Rebouck - Aussie journalist

Ø  "Sachin cannot cheat. He is to cricket what (Mahatma) Gandhiji was to politics. It's clear discrimination. "- NKP Salve, former Union Minister when Sachin was accused of ball tempering

Ø  There are 2 kind of batsmen in the world. One Sachin Tendulkar. Two all the others.- Andy Flower

Ø  "I have seen god, he bats at no.4 for India !!!" - Mathew Hayden.

Ø  When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Father Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of our Sachin.

And today when majority of the above legends are retired, our GOD is still active and breaching all kind of benchmarks.

Jai ho and a salute for this great man................

We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had a Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.*

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin

I wanted to give a different title to this blog, but just couldn't think something that has not been used for our Legend. Wikipedia has official given these titles -Little Master, Master Blaster, The Master, The Little Champion.

This year, Sachin has been pushing the records way beyond the limits. There is no stone unturned when it comes to the charts for this gentleman. The most used cliche in Sports - 'Incredible', and this still cannot suffice the description of Sachin when he starts his inning.

He is in the top run scorer for the current IPL season. Just when the 'smarter race' gave the judgement on his aging factor w.r.t T20 format, he delivers a masterpiece to seal off those lips. His dominance in all formats of the game is nothing new. His double ton in ODI recently was an amazing achievement. And the best part is, this is not the end. He is thirsty for more!

I believe its got to do more with his attitude towards the game, attitude towards life! How often have we heard of Sachin making news for Match-fixing, being anti-social, etc. There is absolutely no parallel to draw in any sport. Surviving for decades, and ruling the charts is way beyond what can be classified as 'extraordinary'.

May we see the best of Sachin in the coming time!

What is IPL???

Have you even been asked this question? If so what was the answer... I sometimes wonder what answer I will have to this question.

Lets check it out. So, if someone was to ask me - What is IPL? My answer(s) would be:

- Its a political endeavour where money is made to flow from all possible corners
- There are loads of sponsors to hog up the limelight. This makes the commentator go - 'this is a

DLF maximum', 'citi moment of success'....

- Every 20-25 seconds there is a contest announcement that can be participated via IPL's website or via sending an SMS

- Every day is also a beauty pageant nomination and the grand finale shall be on the Finals.

- Vodafone is cashing on its services/feature with the help ofZoozoos... This is my favourite part

- Every now and then the camera is focused on the bollywoodteam owner who thinks the stadium is a theatre where he/she can perform their not-so-cool acting skills (I am glad SRKreturned back home, it was impossible to tolerate him)

- The commercials are so important that they hog up action replay

- 20-20 match format is stretched way beyond with the likes of Strategic Timeouts

- It is extremely difficult to figure what I am view is a match telecast or a commercial, since cricketers have maximum advertisement sponsors and appear in most commercials andbollywood stars snatch the limelight during the match. May be a caption would help - "MATCH TELECAST" or "COMMERCIAL" :)

And in the middle of all this, players find time to PLAY CRICKET!

Sachin's stats stands out. Awesome!
What happened to Defending Champions???

It is always difficult for an individual or a team to carry the 'Defending Champion(s)' responsibility!

And when it comes to a Cricket-Crazy nation like India, the expectations were sky-high from
Dhoni's team. Before the start of the T20 World Cup, the Indian were one of the favourites to retain
the title. But somewhere things didn't go quite well for the title contenders. Then comes the
damage control mode - the 'blame game'.

A very interesting analysis I came across on one of the sports channels about India's exit from T20 WC.
- 'IPL did not give players enough rest before such an important tournament'
This has turned out to be one of the most common sink to let some frustration. The team coach,
the media, ... all could very easily target the IPL. May be IPL was responsible, may be not!
But one thing is for sure, IPL did not have similar effect on the foreign players - especially the South African.
- 'IPL showcased Indian players' vulnerability' Up to some extent, I agree with this justification.
Anil Kumble was very bold to say that their team targeted Suresh Raina with short-pitched deliveries
during IPL in a post match analysis. I guess every team was trying to nail down the weaknesses
exposed during IPL. And finally West Indies and England did succeed. What was interesting is that
Indian batsmen did succumb to 'bouncers' in both the games. Or I guess it was expecting too much
from the batsmen to adapt themselves to these short pitched deliveries.

At the end of the day, it was not luck/faith but performance that let the team down.
And the least we should do is 'blame'.
